A Positive Attitude is My Everything

I choose to be a positive person, today is a new day. What a difference 24 hours can make.

My husband’s temperature finally broke and he’s more of his wise-guy self but he’s still ill. Isn’t it crazy how when we are younger we don’t give much thought to our health bulldozing through life, and in later years we learn to guard it like gold. If I knew then what I knew now. While he’s up I managed to put fresh linen out and change the bed. The temperature is in the teens outside but I opened the window briefly to get some fresh air indoors. He managed an hour up now he’s back to bed. I’ve been keeping a large pan of water simmering to put moisture into the dry heated air.

Today I will spend trying to catch up with everything at home Ive gotten behind in while caring for my spouse. I’ll also keep pushing the herbal tea and honey at him. Years ago my son had gotten a winter bug and recommended this Echinacea tea. I have to say it really does help. It has a slight mint twinge that eases any chest and throat soreness. The lack of any caffeine means you’re not running to the restroom and being dehydrated. I’m not a tea drinker myself but I now keep this on hand year round.

It’s hard to believe it’s finally the end of January and it’s about darn time too. It was such a long tedious dark month. I had hoped daylight savings this year would be tossed away in the states but it wasn’t. The longer dark cold days are the worst living up here in winter. If all goes to plan, in the spring we will be making a trip to south England to see family. The last time we were there was 12 years ago and this visit is long overdue. I have only ever been once as an adult, and fell in love with it after a 2 week stay. The culture, the people, and endless rich history are something I very much enjoy.
