First Snow of the Season
I awoke to our first snow of the season. I will go out later but in the moment I snapped some photos from the window. For the past few years the snow has been less and later in the season, unlike typical past winters. In 2024 it didn’t snow until February and we had mild temperatures. By the latter of that month the spring thaw (we call it ice-out) was already underway. January is always our unpredictable winter month but once it’s behind us, we know that the days will start getting longer and the sun becomes stronger.
There’s something magical about seeing the first blanket of snow. I’m hoping with the ground covered more birds will return to my bird feeders. This season they have been few and far between, another oddity. Feel free to check out the live beach cam (live cams are located in the sidebar) to view the snow at nearby Hampton Beach, it’s a lovely winter and also year round view.
