Twice the Women’s Work
Weekends we food shop but we got hit with ice and snow and it put off driving. Luckily we don’t need eggs with a shortage going on (sarcasm)!
My son is feeling better but my husband still has a ways to go. His cough is better the last two days and productive. His fever subsided in the same time frame, I’m hoping it signifies progress. He sees the doctor Friday. Our food store sells these teddy bears, it made me giggle it attracted so much attention by customers passing by. Everyone needs a teddy bear.I didn’t catch the bug they both have. I armed myself at the start with constant handwashing, a can of Lysol disinfectant spray, daily Vitamin C, and more handwashing. I had to go out today and restock our soups, ginger ale, bread, and basics to get them through the week. Tonight we are due more snow. Two days ago I shoveled our 50 foot driveway and parking area. It was not fun and took more than an hour but it was good exercise and got me outdoors. The men couldn’t help with the both of them being ill. Whatever they caught literally has knocked them on their backsides, it’s been a rough one.
Last
night I made spaghetti squash stuffed with ground chicken and
vegetables. I first discovered the recipe watching an ASMR video found here on YouTube.
It’s the first time my family has had any appetite this week. The rest of my day will be laundry,
cleaning house, prepping meals for work and cooking dinner. Tomorrow 4am
will come early and I’m skeptical if my husband should attempt to go to
work but bills don’t take days off. I’m in no way complaining, life is what it is and you do what needs doing to get through it.
I don’t know if it’s our age, the season, or the weather.
Neither
of us get sick often and I’m going to say it; but ever since the Covid
vaccines my husband catches everything. He had the initial double jab
and boosters due to work requirements. I also got the first jab but
after one booster decided against more. Those that we love and know who complied
with vaccines have not fared well compared to people who did not have
it. This is just my experience. I know what my eyes have seen.
It’s
finally February, the cold and ice won’t hang around forever. The
thoughts of spring time and getting outdoors are my light at the end of
the tunnel. I’m antsy to open windows and just be outdoors. The
groundhog tradition was today though a ridiculous one, and the furry
bugger says we have six more weeks of winter. I guess that sounds about right!
